This is a cult. It builds your ego by believing that you are in one of the only churches in the world that is truly following Jesus. Tim reads the bible but doesn't teach from it, he uses the bible to push his own agenda of control and power. At first the community is welcoming. The deeper in you go the more you see that information about others in the community is currency. The way up the ladder is on the back of someone on the way to the doghouse. This place keeps you so busy that you don't have time to think for yourself. When people leave, they are shunned. Members are cut off from anyone who leaves and can only get one side of the story, the side leadership wants them to hear. I pray that someone will someday expose the nightmare that this place is for all to see. Until that day, I pray that those there who are loving and kind hearted will not be hardened by this toxic culture.

Sorry, it is a cult. It makes me sad to say, but it is. No one is allowed to leave this church for any reason. If you do, you are shunned. Praying for everyone still there. Contrary to what is taught, Jesus is working outside of this church & those of us who have left are living full & beautiful lives. We still have a relationship with Jesus & haven't gone 'crazy.' Yes, those who work up the courage to leave, do leave with pain, losing friends, family, & everything we have known for years. But it is so worth it in the end. Anyone who is curious, reach out to those you know who have left, listen to their story. It is okay to listen, this doesn't mean you have to leave. Why are we taught there to shun our friends & family who have left?

Starts good with love bombing. As you get involved things become manipulative, controlling, & abusive. Run!

  • I LOVE this church! So friendly and welcoming. I really enjoy that they read the Bible verse by verse and discuss it as they go. It's really challenged me in my faith and to really think for myself my relationship with God and how I should be living. Don't be intimidated by the pastor's beard! Super nice and serious about God and His word and he really cares about the people. Also, their coffee house has really good coffee :)

BEWARE!! I have seen people come here wonderful, loving people...and this place changes them...they feed your pride, anger, and prey on your vulnerabilities...they keep you so busy running you don't have time to think for yourself, no time to have a relationship with god. A good many of these positive reviews are by leadership....and the leadership is comprised of people who don't dare stand against the pastor on any issues...Don't go the front for prayer after services...the people up there to pray with you are to report back to the pastor that which you share in confidence...this place tears apart families, even healthy christian families. They suck you in with speeches about grace, but they treat you will anything but grace once they have their hooks in you....Few of the leadership can have children without getting kicked out of ministry..its considered "selfish" and "ungodly" to have a family...they see you as "unfit" for 'serving god" if you choose to have kids after you are in ministry....The pastor is full of hatred and anger...if you decided to leave, he finds out from his followers where you go to church next, and calls the new church to warn the pastor about you...he is vindictive and lies. He makes up stuff out of thin air, or finds a small thread of truth from something and adds to it...he uses "labeling techniques" to explain away your abscense when you leave, and its an effective branding for those who are brave enough to ask questions about why you left.....These people have a form of godliness, but they are not godly..they are deceptive....bottom line..they hurt people...people leave with PTSD and broken families...for every success story they have of helping people, there are twenty people who silently went away licking their wounds, people you don't hear from. There is a page of people hurt by Calvary Chapel pastors...this guy at this church is worse than many of the stories shared on that page. Granted, Calvary Chapel pulled their name from this church, but many of the stories on that site have the same ring this one has...this one is just more extreme than most abusive churches.. THIS PLACE DOES NOT REPRESENT CHRIST!!!! If you feel the need to go find out for yourself...and get sucked in by the trendy, hippy, carefree, grace-filled delusion they present, just remember, when things go badly and they hurt you.....remember someone said this is not what Christ is about...Don't give up on God cause this church drove you away with the false claims of authenticity........but yes, as Racheal said in an earlier review...they have great coffee!

  • I think it is hard to be a church that reads and teaches the bible. The Bible is a historical book and there are some harsh things written. Not everyone will follow God, the Bible says the road is narrow. I love this church there is much opportunity for those seeking, you can be as involved as you wish. The pastor is encouraging to tell you to be like a good berean (Acts 17:10,11) and if something is taught that doesn't agree with the bible to search out where in the bible and challenge it. No one is perfect. But as a Christian correction and grace are a part of life and living in a community. I personal have found it here.

  • I came to this church during my Junior year at the University of Wisconsin Stout. At the time, I was struggling with some addiction and life issues. I knew I needed help... I visited this church and saw several things that caught my attention. (1) They taught verse-by-verse from the Bible in a simple way to understand without extra church doctrines and ceremonies. (2) The people going to the church met up with each other often during the week, not just for an hour on Sundays. (3) There were tons of young people seeking God (unlike the churches I had come from). And most importantly, (4) I saw people who had overcome various addictions and were living amazing lives for God (that's probably what hooked me... I hadn't seen anything like that before).
It's been 15 years, a bachelor's degree, several years of ministerial training, five overseas missions trips, an amazing marriage, and an opportunity to leave the professional world to serve God full time.... and I still love this church. I pray that those visiting might see what I saw... and experience the transformation that God offers those who follow him.

  • Awesome church! They are founded on the Holy Scriptures and seek to live by them as well. A great place for any true christian to belong and grow!
